Today’s the day! After months of planning and anticipation, we’re finally diving headfirst into our solar installation. We’re incredibly fortunate to have the Nomad Mods team, Sean and James, on board. These guys are absolute wizards when it comes to all things solar, and their expertise is invaluable.
We started by laying out all the components and doing a quick inventory. It’s a lot to take in, but we’re excited to get started. The plan is to mount the panels on a low-profile rack that we’ll build ourselves. This will keep the rig looking sleek and provide plenty of walking space around the panels for easy cleaning.

On The Roof
Today, we took our solar installation to new heights – literally! We climbed onto the roof and began constructing the mini-rack system that will hold our six panels. It’s a bit of a puzzle, but with Sean and James’ guidance, we’re making steady progress.
While we were up there, we also removed the original 165 watt panel that came factory on our Grand Design Imagine. We plan on saving this panel and using it for a different project.

Finishing Touches and Celebration
After three long days of hard work, we’re thrilled to announce that our solar system is up and running! We installed the last panel, terminated all the wires, and watched as our inverters sprung to life. It’s an incredible feeling to know that we’re now generating our own clean energy.
Of course, there were a few hiccups along the way. We had to make a few last-minute part runs and figure out how to route the wires through the RV’s maze of compartments. But with a little patience and problem-solving, we managed to overcome every obstacle.
